The Day Makers & Pages Came to Life
Yesterday, Makers & Pages opened its doors for our soft opening.
I had pictured that day so many times.
I imagined people walking through the space, browsing the shelves, picking up books, noticing the details, and discovering the thoughtful mix of things we had worked so hard to bring together.
But imagining it and standing in the middle of it were two very different things.
From the moment we opened, there was a steady flow of people. The shop filled with conversation, laughter, curiosity, and the kind of excitement you can feel before anyone even says a word.
And then came the words.
“Wow.”
“Did you see this?”
“Come look at this.”
Those little moments followed me throughout the day.
People moved from shelf to shelf, finding books, gifts, artisan goods, beautiful objects, and unexpected treasures. They stopped. They looked closely. They called someone else over to see what they had found.
That was the part that stayed with me.
Makers & Pages was never meant to be a place people simply walked through. I wanted it to feel like a place where people could slow down. A place where curiosity had room to breathe. A place where someone might discover something they didn't know they were looking for.
Yesterday, I watched that happen.
The reactions were genuine. The excitement was contagious. People shared photos, left kind comments, and told us how much they loved the space. A couple of guests even created videos and posted them on social media, giving others a glimpse inside and helping the excitement travel beyond the walls of the shop.
That kind of response means more than I can fully put into words.
Because Makers & Pages began as an idea.
It was a vision for a space centered around books, thoughtful living, beautiful things, and the simple joy of discovery. It was built piece by piece, shelf by shelf, decision by decision.
Every detail mattered.
Not because everything needed to be perfect, but because I wanted the space to feel intentional. I wanted people to know, the moment they walked in, that they had entered somewhere different.
Yesterday, they did.
They noticed.
They felt it.
And for the first time, I was able to step back and see Makers & Pages not just as something I had created, but as a place people were already beginning to make their own.
That may have been the most beautiful part of the day.
The shop came alive because people walked through the doors and brought their curiosity with them. They filled the space with energy, conversation, and connection.
What had lived in my mind for so long was suddenly real.
To everyone who came by, shared a post, left a comment, told a friend, or simply stood in the shop and took it all in—thank you.
You made our soft opening unforgettable.
And this is only the beginning.
There is still so much ahead for Makers & Pages. More books to discover. More beautiful things to find. More conversations to have. More reasons to slow down and stay awhile.
We would love for you to come experience it for yourself.
Browse the shelves.
Look closely.
Take your time.
You never know what might be waiting for you.
